Guitar instruction
Whitney Pierce has been teaching guitar to students of all ages for over 16 years. Through her experience and pedagogical studies, she has developed an individualized approach to teaching that allows students to express themselves confidently through their guitar playing.
Since moving to the Seattle area in 2003, Whitney has performed in many notable venues including the Space Needle, and in numerous chamber concerts including the annual Cascade Symphony Ensembles Concerts.
Whitney began attending the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN while still in high school, and she received her B.M. in guitar performance there, after being awarded both music and academic scholarships. Whitney went on to pursue graduate studies at the University of Minnesota, and was selected to perform in master classes with many distinguished guitarists including Sharon Isbin.
Although her background is in classical and flamenco guitar, Whitney enjoys teaching all styles of guitar with a focus on understanding theory and developing good technique. Whitney is a certified Suzuki instructor which has enabled her to successfully teach students as young five years old. Whitney welcomes adults and students of all levels, and strives to provide every student with challenging and entertaining repertoire.
